Activair axial fans - frequently asked questionsaxial fan

Activair industrial axial fans are available in 7 diameters from 315mm (12.6in.) to 630mm (25.2in.) and in plate and duct mounted versions.

What is the the air flow for increasing static pressures?

The performance figures for duct and plate mounted fans are as follows:

Activair industrial fans - airflow (m3/sec) vs. static pressure
Fan Diameter mm Static Pressure Pa.
  0 25 50 75 100 125
315 0.65 0.58 0.50
350 0.88 0.77 0.66 0.54
400 1.35 1.25 1.13 0.97
450 1.65 1.55 1.43 1.25 1.10
500 2.48 2.34 2.20 2.05 1.90 1.76
560 3.45 3.25 3.10 2.90 2.60 2.35
630 3.55 3.20 2.80 2.40 1.90

Can I install the fan myself?

Activair axial fans must be installed by suitably qualified personnel. It is the sole responsibility of the customer to ensure the installer is suitably qualified.

How is the fan motor protected?

The motor is fitted with a thermal cut-out. Under normal conditions it is closed, if a fault occurs it opens. It automatically resets once the temperature in the motor has fallen to a safe level.

The cut-out should be wired so that it immediately disconnects the electrical supply to the motor when a fault occurs.

Because the cut-out automatically resets, the motor will restart without warning. We recommend that the motor is wired so that it can only be restarted by a human operator.

How do I control the speedaxial fan speed control

Two electronic speed controllers are available.

How do I reverse the fan rotation

Interchange Z1 (blue) and Z2 (Yellow) in the terminal box. This must be only be carried out by a suitably qualified person.

How many finger guards do I need?

For duct mounted fans - 2, for the plate mounted versions - 1.

What periodic maintenance is necessary?

The motor is sealed for life and hence does not require maintenance.

The fan should be cleaned and checked for damage every 5000 running hours or 12 months, whichever is sooner.
